I went to Laracon US in Boston last month, where I evangelized Silly Software in front of 1,000 Laravel devs. They were all incredibly kind, and I loved getting to connect with this new-to-me community.

After the talk, several people shared that they were inspired to build. What an honor to play a small part in that! You know that spark of energy and obsession that comes with having a new idea? Helping facilitate that was the whole goal of the talk.
Let’s talk about some of the projects I’ve seen from the Laravel community since.
Philip built a bartending app for when he has parties at his house. You can place a cocktail order, and also browse his library of books, request a song, or sign the guestbook. Cute!

I got a similar email in my inbox, where Becky directed me to ultimateplayspace.com.
It’s a collection of games that her 10 year-old son built. It has analytics, and seeing the page views is a rush for this young builder. Go to ultimateplayspace.com and try out the games; I’m sure it will make his day.
All this to say… the kids are gonna be alright.
The New Wave
Sam, a Laravel employee and one of the conference organizers, writes:
This was sweet to read, because I’ve been following her journey as a New Wave developer, and it’s been so inspiring to see. She’s a marketer by trade, but has been using AI to build in a really cool way. Rather than just vibing, she’s taking the chance to ask questions of the AI and her engineer friends, learning about web development along the way. She’s even sharing her learnings in public.

Who among us hasn’t felt this way? Isn’t this the whole point?

Miscellaneous goodies
My most-used silly software of late is Fridgle. It’s a daily challenge to write something using those poetry fridge magnets. I’m utterly hooked, and haven’t missed a day since I learned about it. What a delightful, calming, oddly cathartic ritual.
